THE GUIDE

A chauffeur at The Dorchester's door

The Dorchester stands on Park Lane at the corner of Deanery Street, London W1K 1QA, looking straight across the road to Hyde Park. Its green coated doormen greet cars at the main entrance, and the hotel's own sister property, 45 Park Lane, is right next door. The Tube is a walk away, but with luggage or a tight flight time, a car at the door is easier.

Our base at One Mayfair Place is a short drive away, so a chauffeur from The Dorchester is never coming from the far side of London. Your chauffeur arrives a little early, lets you know when the car is outside and handles the bags with the doormen. Cars pull in off Park Lane to the hotel's forecourt, which the doormen keep clear for arrivals, so on hourly bookings your chauffeur waits a few minutes away and comes back to the door as soon as you send a message.

Who books a car from The Dorchester

Most of our journeys here fall into four kinds. Hotel guests heading to or from an airport or a private jet terminal. Diners booked at Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester, The Grill or China Tang who want a car home afterwards. Guests at dinners, charity balls and parties in the hotel's ballroom and private rooms. And Londoners meeting friends or clients for afternoon tea at The Promenade or a drink at the Vesper Bar, who would rather not hunt for a taxi on Park Lane at the end of the evening.

Arriving at The Dorchester

For arrivals, your chauffeur follows the flight, meets you in the arrivals hall with a name board and drives you straight to the hotel entrance, where the doormen take the luggage in. If you are landing at Heathrow, our Heathrow meeting points guide shows exactly where you will be met at each terminal, and our Heathrow chauffeur service page covers the details. Guests flying privately are met at the private terminal; see our private jet chauffeur guide.

Evenings, dinners and events at the hotel

Big nights at The Dorchester tend to finish at the same moment for everyone, and Park Lane fills with cars at once. For a gala or a ballroom dinner we agree a collection point with you in advance, and your chauffeur messages when the car is a minute away so you are not left standing on the pavement in black tie. Booking by the hour means the car stays with you for the whole evening, from collection at home to the drive back after the last dance.

For an anniversary, a proposal or a client dinner that matters, a Rolls-Royce sets the tone. Our Rolls-Royce Ghost is the quieter, understated choice, and the full Rolls-Royce range includes the Phantom and Cullinan. Office parties in December are a busy time on Park Lane, and our Christmas party chauffeur page explains how we move groups home safely.

A day out from the hotel

Many guests keep a car for a half or full day. Mount Street and South Audley Street are just behind the hotel, Bond Street is a few minutes away, and Knightsbridge is a short drive past Hyde Park Corner. With a private driver for the day, shopping bags stay in the car between stops and lunch can be wherever you like. Our Mayfair chauffeur guide covers the neighbourhood in more detail.

Booking for a guest

Concierge teams, PAs and family offices often book on a guest's behalf. Send the guest's name, collection time and flight number if there is one, and we confirm the price in writing to you, to the guest or to both. Our hotel and concierge page explains how desks and assistants work with us. We are an independent company and not part of the hotel, so you deal directly with our concierge, 24 hours a day.
