Mercedes-Benz S-Class chauffeur car for a Mayfair to Heathrow transfer

The drive from Mayfair to Heathrow is one of the most frequent journeys we make. It is only around 15 miles, but the difference between a calm departure and a rushed one comes down to timing, the right car and a chauffeur who knows which terminal entrance you need.

How long does Mayfair to Heathrow take?

From Berkeley Square, Mount Street or Grosvenor Square, the usual route runs west along Piccadilly or Park Lane to Hyde Park Corner, through Knightsbridge and Hammersmith, then onto the A4 and M4 to the airport spur. Typical journey times:

  • Early morning, late evening and Sundays: 35–45 minutes.
  • Weekday daytime: 50–65 minutes.
  • Weekday peaks (roughly 7–10am and 4–7pm): 60–90 minutes, sometimes more on a Friday afternoon.

Your chauffeur checks live traffic before setting off and will choose the Cromwell Road or the Embankment and Chiswick where that is quicker. If conditions look poor, we will message you in advance to suggest an earlier collection.

When to leave Mayfair for your flight

As a rule of thumb, aim to be at the terminal two hours before a short-haul flight and three hours before a long-haul one, then add the journey time above with a margin. In practice that means:

  • A 10am long-haul departure: collection from Mayfair around 5:45–6am.
  • A 6pm short-haul departure on a weekday: collection around 2:45–3pm.
  • Travelling with a family, plenty of luggage or a VAT refund to process: add another 30 minutes.

If you are using a lounge, a premium check-in area or Heathrow's VIP service, tell us when you book and we will plan the drop-off around it.

Which terminal, and where you are dropped

Heathrow has four passenger terminals: 2, 3, 4 and 5. British Airways operates mainly from Terminal 5, while other airlines are spread across 2, 3 and 4 depending on alliance. Always check your booking, as airlines do move. Your chauffeur drops you at the departures forecourt directly outside your terminal and helps with luggage to the kerb or a trolley.

Give us your flight number when booking and we will confirm the terminal before you travel.

Coming home: Heathrow to Mayfair

On the return, your chauffeur waits in the arrivals hall of your terminal holding a name board, just beyond the customs exit. Because we track your flight, an early or late landing is no concern: the chauffeur adjusts automatically. You have 90 minutes' free waiting from landing, which covers passport control and baggage reclaim even on a busy morning.

Before you travel, you receive your chauffeur's name, photograph and mobile number, so you know who is meeting you before you land.
